Mount Carmel Provincialate, Baghmugalia
Mount Carmel Provincialate, Baghmugalia is the Provincial House or the head office of the Carmel institutions which comes under Bhopal Province. Mount Carmel Province of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (
C.M.C.) originated as an offshoot of Holy Queens Province Changanacherry. The history of the Province dates back to the year 1968 when the sisters of the Holy Queen's Province ventured out in to the North. The challenging call for mission work came from Most Rev. Dr. Eugene
D'Souza, the then Archbishop of Bhopal and the pioneer missionaries of Mount Carmel lovingly responded to the call. Keeping Carmel Convent BHEL as the base, sisters started more centres of humanitarian services. The centre of Provincial administration was later shifted to Mount Carmel
Provincialate, Baghmugalia in 1999.
The vision of the Congregation is the all round development of the people of God especially of women and children. To give concrete shape to this vision of the Founder Fathers Blessed Chavara and Rev. Fr. Leopold
OCD, Mount Carmel Province opened educational institutions, dispensaries and social work
centres. At present the sisters are working in 16 mission stations in the dioceses of Bhopal, Agra, Ujjain and
Balasore. The Province has also a house in Louisiana, U.S.A and a recruitment house at Kottayam in
Kerala.
